#1

Most of you know we have been struggling this year as to where to send Kai and eventually our other children to school. We LOVE Ada Christian on so many levels, but it is sooo expensive and would probably deter us from having any more children(-: And a small part of me thinks about the many, many ways we and all of the kids could help further the kingdom with all the money we'd be spending/saving. Luckily, we live in a great public school district with a few options. Knapp Forest right down the street offers a suberb amount of convenience (pick up/drop off via bus to the neighborhood) and most of the neighborhood kids attend that school. The other option is Ada Vista, which is a Spanish Immersion program which is located not too far away. We've prayed, prayed and prayed about these options. We decided to educate ourselves more on the Spanish Immersion program and that became very appealing to us. (We just wish it was taught from a Christian perspective!)Luke knows Spanish quite well and because some of the most poverty stricken parts of this world are in Latin America, we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for our kids to learn this language and maybe someday use it to glorify God. The more we prayed, the more we felt God was opening the door. The only problem....there were only 14 openings this year (86 siblings were grandfathered in) and there were approx 75 applicants. So what they do is a lottery...literally. So we decided to enroll Kai and that would at least eliminate one of our options or open a door. So, his name was thrown in with 75 others. The first 14 drawn are automatically in. Then starts the waiting list from #1-#61 on the wait(they will allow new applicants from this waiting list until 1st semester 1st grade). We received the letter today and he was #1 on the waiting list!!! They further went on to explain that they expect a few openings to arise in the next 2 weeks and he will be the 1st one called. AAAHH!! So, this may be where the Lord is leading us. We'll see. In the meantime, Kai is pretty excited about learning Spanish and it pretty much put to shame my dream the night before that he was #172 on the list. Ha!
