Bu Bye Coast Guard Festival!

"Fireworks from the roof!"

"Waving my American Flag"

There's My Papa on the Firetruck!

Those were the words (the title) we heard in our car from Kai as we left Grand Haven last night. For those of you who know us well, you know that we always look forward to the Big Coast Guard celebration in Grand Haven each year. This year, Luke took a few days off work so that our little vacation would last 5 days. We had an event filled few days and enjoyed every minute of it. We got a little beach time in, many walks, the carnival (in which Kai rode his first "real" ride AND the Ferris Wheel with Mommy), Luke and I had a "date night" while Grammy and Papa watched the kids, we went to the world's longest parade on Saturday (in which Papa was in!), and topped the weekend off with the best fireworks display ever! Luke's parents are always invited to their friends "rooftop" deck, which overlooks the entire channel where the fireworks are let off. So, we gladly accepted the opportunity to lounge while enjoying the fireworks, which worked out great since we wanted to somewhat protect little Aria's ears. Kai LOVED them as usual ( he's been attending firework shows since he was 6 months old) and couldn't stop talking about them. We were sad to end our time there and are welcomed home to loads of laundry, calls to return, a dirty house and no groceries. Hmmmmm, I guess it's back to reality.......
