Mr. Personality......

On Tuesday I had to run a few errands and as I was in the car on the way home, it dawned on me the long series of events that took place in just ONE store. I had to go to Michaels and since my fav store Marshalls was just next door, I thought I would take a "quick" peek to see what they had new for fall.

While there (and I was there for only 15 minutes!), Kai met 5 new friends. The first was the lady that tended the dressing room. He quickly ran up to her as I was browsing the shoe aisle and sat down next to her and started chatting about his car and asking her one million questions about her car, the color, where it was parked, etc. Then I bribe him away by saying that we were going to see the toys. We walked over there and he quickly met a little boy and started climbing up shelves to fetch a truck the little boy wanted. I saw him out of the corner of my eye (as I was admiring the cute little baby girl clothes they just got in) and rushed over there to catch him as he stepped down. I told Kai it was time to go and the little boy cried and cried. He promptly replied "Don't worry, it's ok". Then next was the checkout lady (of course I can't leave there without buying something), he struck up a conversation with her about the ouwie on her face (freckles) and how much he loved candy. (There was candy for sale on the counter) He asked her several questions such as "How old are you and where do you live?". She kept commenting on how cute he was and that she wanted to take him home. At that point, I was about ready to take her up on her offer. (Ok, not really) Then I try exiting-I have a cart with a huge comforter in the seat portion and little Aria in her carseat in the body of the cart, therefore I can't see the door to get it open. A little old lady comes over to help me out the door- she is holding a fresh bagel and a coffee from Starbucks. Kai immediately smells the coffee and goes "MMMM, I smell good coffees" and recognizes the bagel and asks her if she has a "muffin". She says "No, its a bagel" He asks if he could have a bite. The lady looks at me and says "Can I please give him a piece". Ok, while I know I really shouldn't allow him to eat food from a complete stranger, I caved in because the moment was so cute and the bagel not even touched yet, and said "Ok, just a tiny bit". He looks at her with a big smile and says "FANK YOU!" Right then, the manager of the store is walking in and notices Kai jabbering to his employee. Of course, Kai reels him in on the conversation too and starts telling him how much he loves icecream. In the meantime, I'm watching the man as he talks and I notice despite his professional appearance he has totally rotten teeth. So, Kai asks him what his favorite kind of icecream is and he says chocolate. Then the man asks him what his is and he replies "Spiderman". A) Theres no such thing as spiderman icecream-its superman AND B) He doesnt even like superman icecream. Oh well, I guess he's learning to tell fibs. Anyways with the most endearing face Kai looks up at him and says "YOU GOT CHOCOLATE IN YOUR TEETH!" I wanted to crawl under the cart. The man was really nice and explained to Kai that if he didnt take care of his teeth that they would end up that way. I finally drug him out to the car where he repeated the entire series of events the whole way home.

Although I was frustrated that the "quick trip to Marshalls" took so long, I've grown to love and appreciate Kai's outgoing personality. He lights up a room when he walks in and makes people smile all day long. And even though I still prefer to run my errands alone, I can't help but take a step back and cherish these moments.

Kai is Mr. Personality. He will talk to anyone. What a little cutie (although I would have turned bright red when he asked the man about his chocolate teeth - how funny!).
