Today was bittersweet. A part of me wants to fall apart in tears observing my "baby" girl tonight as she celebrated her 1st birthday. I know everyone says this, but the year just flew by. It's hard to believe we were meeting her for the first time one year ago today. And even though I'm excited to watch her grow up, there's a part of me that feels like I'm losing my baby. The other part of me was so thrilled to be celebrating this day with her. We have had so many fun times together already and I'm looking forward to what is yet to come. It just reinforces how happy I am that I have been able to spend almost every waking hour with her this past year. What a fun party we had! Both of our families joined us from near and far. The food was "fondue", which was not only appropriate for a one yr old's party, but absolutely delicious! We had everything imaginable to "dip" it in and although it was alot of work, it was well worth it. The colors were shades of pink with paisleys, flowers, stripes and polka dots. We created a time capsule for her that incorporated everyone's thoughts and feelings about her. She will open it on her 18th birthday. The party favors were framed pictures of her at age 1. Aria was her normal, happy self tonight. All smiles, delighted to see everyone, all ears to the "happy birthday song", loved engorging herself with her pink polka dot cake, and so stinking cute in her tutu if I must say so myself(-: She thoroughly enjoyed her presents and got a few really special ones too. (Silver locket from Grammy N and purse filled with "real" goodies from Grammy L-just to name a few)

She is too cute!!
From a former Westsider to a current one: I don't think fondue for a first birthday party is the norm on "your" side of town. ;) What happened with ham on buns? I'm sure that's what we had at EVERY birthday party. I'm going to make sure to check with you the next time I have a party. You sure do know how to throw good ones!
By the way...adorable pictures!!
HEY!! The West side is FIRST CLASS baby!(-:
