Spring Break 2010- Florida

CousinsChef Mickeys
I am a bit behind in posting about our recent trip to Florida. We flew Allegiant Air March 20-28 and it was absolutely wonderful having a quick 2hr 15 min flight right to St. Pete. We're saving Luke's airline miles for our trips to Africa, so the huge perk was able to choose the airline this year and fly direct! We had such a great time in FL- the weather was a steady 70-75 degrees and we managed to fit many activities in in the 8 days we were there. We stayed with Grammy & Papa N. at their condo. The first day/night Luke's brother Jason and family came to visit and we got to spend the day/night together. The kids LOVED seeing their cousins and doing their annual "night swim" at the pool. Unfortunately it rained that the next day, so we spent the afternoon at the mall spending money(-: We took a day and headed to Clearwater Beach and let the kids play in the sand and the great play equip they have at that beach. Becket loved the sand and the slides. He is a crazy boy! They have some cute little outdoor restaurants that we ate at. SO nice to eat outside again. We hit the Clearwater Aquariam and the kids enjoyed seeing the dolphins. Mid week, we booked an overnight trip to Disney World, which is always a highlight for us. This year, we took Kai and Aria and lil B stayed back with Grammy & Papa for some one on one spoiling. We headed out in the am and went to Magic Kingdom. The kids loved it there. Aria's favorite ride was the jerky fast rollercoaster in Mickey town and Kai's was probably the race cars, with the Pirates of the Carribean a close second. Unfortunately, Luke didn't feel that well that day, so he spent most of his time on the park bench. Poor guy)-: We stayed at the Contemporary Resort (which the tram to/from Disney takes you to) and that was great! Super nice hotel, not too kid cheesy/dirty(-:, and it had a wonderful pool, waterslide, and Chef Mickeys. We woke up in the am and headed downstairs for breakfast. I had tried for a few months to get us reservations to the ever popular Chef Mickeys with no success. When we got up and ready, we walked downstairs and I decided to just check "one more time". They got us in in 15 minutes! So we thoroughly enjoyed our $100 breakfast- yeah, the kids made the most of it by eating one mickey shaped waffle and some yogurt. It was fun, but I think one visit will do(-: We spent the remainder of the am at the resort where there was a splash area, waterslide, pools and beach. We then headed over to Downtown Disney so Kai could visit the MUCH anticipated Lego Land. He LOVED it there-they had a cute little area where you could build your own race car and race it with others. There were some really cool LEGO sculptures there and tons of lego nerd employees. Kai also spotted the giant Tinkertoy structure and demanded that I take a picture of it so he could build it when he got home. He loves tinkertoys! Mommy enjoyed the Ghiardelli chocolate shoppe! The rest of the week we did a variety of activities, mostly beaching it, swimming in the pool, dining at local restaurants, walks, visiting with Grammy & Papa and Luke and I even got in a date night.  We had a great trip and I'm thankful to be back to decent weather in MI too! Thank you for hosting all 5 of us Grammy & Papa and for all your help with the kids!
