2010 Class Halloween Parties

I was so happy to be able to attend both of the kids Halloween parties this year and Grammy came so that I could go volunteer in Kai's class. We started off at Aria's Halloween party at Canterbury Creek. They had a little costume parade and then all the kids went into the barn to put on a show. They sang songs they had learned and had their sweet artwork hanging everywhere. Aria sang her little heart out and knew all the words. Surprising to Mom as I had asked her if she was learning any new songs for the Halloween party and she replied "nope, no songs". Are you sure? (i knew from when Kai went there what they sang) "NO Mom! We aren't singing any songs" And low and behold, not only did they sing, but she knew all the motions and did it with a smile on her face! We ended with some treats and cider. I was able to meet some of her new friends she talks about. Her bestie is Ella. Her boyfriend is Rudy. Yep, I found out when I got there that she has a boyfriend that just adores her. His Mom approached me asking me if I was Aria's Mom. When I said yes, she went on and on about how her little boy talks about Aria being his best friend and constantly talks about her at home. For example, when he's getting ready for school, he will say to his Mom "I wonder if Aria is getting ready for school right now?" or "Maybe she is waiting for me to get ready first." So cute. And you won't believe who Rudy is!? At the beginning of the year, I noticed the cutest, most adorable Ethiopian boy get out of his Mom's car every morning. I always joke with Luke that dark skinned boys will like Aria for her white blond hair. He had the cutest little smile and of course struck my attention since it was obvious he was Ethiopian. Luke also asked me if I had noticed the cute little Ethiopian boy in Aria's class. We both spotted him right away. And low and behold, little Rudy is Aria's best boy-friend! I got a chance to talk with his Mom and they were one of the first families to adopt from Ethiopia. He was 9 months old when he came home. They went through our same agency, so we knew lots of people in common. It was a fun morning.

Grammy Nieuwenhuis was able to join us there. Becket loved the treats(-:
Then onto Kai's party! He too had a parade, class craft making ghosts, treats and a fun time of singing and dancing.  His favorite friend in class is also his worst enemy. He is always talking about him and usually complaining, but when I see them together they act like brothers. It was fun to see some of his classmates in action and get to know his friends a little better. I also got to meet some other Mom's-all who seemed so nice. I love that his class is so diverse. Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Spanish & African are just a few of the ethnicities represented in his class. Very cool.
