On Sunday we had the honor of dedicating Aria to the Lord. As a parent, this was a hard thing to do! My natural instinct is to hang on to her for dear life, protect her, keep her and call her "mine". While we are still required to do these things, our faith informs us that our children belong to God, and are entrusted into our hands for but a season. Parenting, at its best, is a calling from God through those years to love and protect, to challenge and to gradually release our precious children. Making a commitment before the Lord to submit Aria to God's will and to raise her according to God's Word and God's ways is not something to take lightly. As parents, we have a huge responsibility that goes way beyond what clothes they will wear today, what food they will try tomorrow, or what school they will attend next year-a responsibility that we certainly welcomed, but one that will require the daily surrendering of our lives to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD." And he worshiped the LORD there. 1 Samuel 1:26-28 (NIV)

What beautiful pictures. Sorry we couldn't make it to the dedication but you were all in our thoughts and prayers that day.
