Major Breakthrough......

I'm so excited right now, that I can't contain myself. Over what you may ask? Well, let me begin. Most of you know that Kai has been extremely strong willed when it comes to potty training and over the past several months has down right refused. We've tried every trick in the book. Literally. He's willingly given up special events (such as the thought of going to school, having to go to nursery instead of 3's group at the Y, etc) We have been praying for a change of heart and decided that we would start ignoring the subject as hard as it was. If something is Kai's idea, he's all for it. If Kai say's he's ready to do something, there's usually no turning back. Knowing this about him, I had confidence that it wouldn't be a hard process once his mind was made up. Still, I've been fretting about the possibility of him missing a year of pre-school that I KNOW he will absolutely love all because of his "will".

On Mother's Day, the doors started to open. He's been talking about it quite a bit since we decided to ignore the topic and was frequently telling us and others that "lovie" was going to Farm School, but he wasn't. He would just go to Sunday school because he could wear diapers there. Last week, his tune changed. Lovie (aka: Me) and Kai had an in depth conversation. Basically Lovie expressed that he didn't want to go to Farm school alone and really wanted Kai to come with him! After 15 minutes, Lovie had him convinced. He said "fine! I'll go on the potty, but only if Miss Meghan shows me" I promptly replied "Of course" even though in the back of my mind I was thinking- this is going to cost and arm and a leg- Miss Meghan is our babysitter! But hey, we're desparate. So over the past week, we've continued talking about it and have arranged for Miss Meghan to come Wed and Thurs evening. Yesterday he tells me that he would like to start "practicing" before she came. WHAT!!?? I was blown away! So today we woke up, lovie and kai picked out their undies and I proceeded to load him up on liquids. He was a determined boy today. He willingly kept trying, but couldn't go. He kept saying, "But, you have to show me how to go" I felt so bad. Here he sat with a full bladder and just couldn't let it out. Everytime he would get off the toilet, he would ask to try again. This has NEVER happened. Grammy and her friend were here and also tried with him. No results)-: Grandma "G" as he calls Grammy's friend suggested pouring warm water on him. She tried, and nope still nothing. A trip to the park later and still no accidents, I asked him to try again. I KNEW he had to go, but was ready to bag it. I could feel him starting to get discouraged and I didn't want to push him away from the idea. He was in such a good mood and asked to go to his friends house next door. I told him he would have to try going potty again before he went. He jumped inside and ran downstairs with me. Plopped on the toilet and said, will you pour hot water on me. I filled a measuring cup with HOT water, started pouring and all of a sudden he grabbed the cup and started pouring all the water at once- he shouts "It's making me go!!!" I didn't believe it- but then I looked down and saw him peeing. Ok, I'm sure most of you are laughing right now, but I was literally overjoyed!! Later today, we tried again, and yup, he did it. I'm trying not to get too excited, but knowing Kai, I think this is it for diapers. Let's hope I'm right(-:
