Unbelievable.....
I thought you mom's would be shocked to hear my latest mall story, so I thought I would share. Yesterday, we are leaving Rivertown Mall. I'm parked under covered parking in the expectant mother/small children parking spot (which i now qualify for both!) Anyways, I'm buckling the kids up and I hear this loud squeeking noise. Kai asks me what it was and I told him it sounded like a bird or something. You know how sometimes birds build their nests in there and they are super loud. Anyways, I go to Aria's side of the car and am buckling her in when I notice the car one down from me is on with it's windshield wipers going. Oh! That's that loud squeeking noise-wipers going on a dry windshield. Then I do a double take. There is a small boy in the drivers seat (maybe 2 yrs old?) pretending like he is driving the car. It struck me as odd as the car was running and I thought it looked kind of dangerous. I assumed there was an adult in there with him letting him pretend. I get Aria all set and step away from my car to get a closer look. As I start to walk over there, I see this little boy has all the windows down, lights on, wipers going and is CLIMBING OUT OF THE WINDOW! ALL WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING! I run over there as he falls on the ground. At this point, I start to panic. I go to pick him up and he starts running in the parking lot. As I'm chasing after him and finally secure him, I notice a puppy jumps out of the open windows! At first thought, I was going to let the puppy go, but I was able to trap him (with a 40lb 2 yr old in my arms!) and threw him back in the car. Then I notice there is a little baby sitting in there. WHAT THE HECK!!!??? So as I'm panicking, I quickly grab a passer by to go inside and get security for me. What was I to do? I couldnt leave my kids and these others out in the parking lot to get help. Security doesnt show up. I frantically try to memorize the license plate #- of course I remembered it at the time, but quickly forgot. I stand there debating on grabbing another passer by when this woman walks out of the mall yelling her sons name. Disgustingly I explained what had just happened with her kids and how I had to chase them down in the parking lot. She said she had just gone into UBU for a few minutes and was watching through the window. I told her apparently she wasnt watching very well because I've been standing out here with her kids for 5 minutes! She repeatedly apologized and starting yelling at the kid asking him why he got out of his carseat and climbed out of the car. I couldnt believe what I was hearing....here SHE left her young kids in the car ALONE and was trying to hold the 2 yr old responsible? She claimed he had never done this before- I immediately responded, so this isnt the first time!!?? I left it with her that there is a first time for everything and it's a risk she should have never taken. Then as I drove away shaking, I forgot her license plate #. I'm just praying that she learned her lesson and will never take that chance again.
